Actionscript 3.0 load external text file

This happens for all external text in all the scenes. Not sure that it would be a problem but you may want to consider creating the instance of the text field during the function after the data is loaded just to keep things nicely organized, and it would prevent any problems with instances that are not used should the data not load for some reason.

Does it even need to be there? When I delete it nothing changes. And when I delete the instance on the stage the text still appears. I will try to recreate the situation in a Flash file and make a new post with a link to it from this thread for you if I find a suitable solution to the problem. Might take me a couple of days to find time, but will not forget ya! Hi Everybody Thanks for the scripting.

I hv tried this its working properly , but i am facing one more problem i. Can anyone tell me how can i comeout with tihs problem. How do I go about doing this? Another problem I am having is that HTML tags in the html document like is working, but not tags like.

Is there a workaround? I have never really seen a need to remove these kind of event listeners for memory or performance improvement. I have a div.

Have you tried using the CSS inside the Flash file rather than external to check that it works right? Might want to consider creating the style inside the action script to be sure Flash supports all the tags. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account. Click the first frame of the Content layer and add an empty Dynamic text field to the stage with the Text tool. With the Properties panel still open, set the width w and height h to and Behavior should be set to Multiline. Save your txt file next to the Main. I was looking for a custom scrollbar that'd work with actionScript 3. Thank you for the tips, nice blog.

Java nice day. Hey Biochimistu, sorry to bother you again, but I have a new problem and I haven't managed to solve it by myself. In other words, my goal is to display text on a mc, and when a user clicks next, I need to unload text and load text and so on Hope you can give me a hand or a tip on this one.

Thankx again. February 13, at PM. You must load a new. This will work. February 15, at PM. God, man! I'm looking forward to get a decent as3 manual or tutorial, because since Adobe switched to ActionScript 3. I don't know I just belive the programming changed a lot. February 17, at PM. Thanks for the tutorial. Easy, yet very helpful. I do have a question. What code would I have to add to make the buttons disappear if the text fits within the text field? For example, my text field is px high. If the text fits within that area and does not extend beyond, I want the arrows to not be there. But if I add text and make fill more area than px, then I want the buttons to appear. Is this possible?

June 25, at AM. Hi anonymous , Yes it is possible, look in the documentation at the TextField class; there is a property textHeight that holds the width of the text contained in a text field. Compare this property with the text filed height if the textHeight is bigger that text field height you will make the buttons visible. This file can be created in programs such as WordPad or TextEdit. Save your txt file next to the Main. Name the file, ExternalText The text box appear on the stage with the contents of the external txt file.

The second line loads the ExternalText
